We assessed Cygnet Paddocks from Tuesday 22 to Wednesday 23 October 2025.
We assessed the service as it has previously been unrated.
Cygnet Paddocks was registered with CQC, in August 2024 to deliver the regulated activities: Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Treatment of disease, disorder or injury.
The Registered Manager for the location was Kiri Houghton
At this assessment we assessed Services for people with acquired brain injury.
We rated the service as Good. We found 0 breaches of regulations.

Cygnet Paddocks opened in July 2024. Cygnet Paddocks is a 28-bed specialist neuropsychiatric rehabilitation hospital for male patients. There are 3 wards. Sorrel ward is a 12-bed ward for patients with neuropsychiatric injuries. Bay ward is a 10-bed ward for patients with neuropsychiatric injuries and additional physical health needs. Roan ward has 6 self-contained apartments. The service provided care and treatment for patients with acquired or traumatic brain injuries, including stroke. The service also offers continuing care for people who have progressive neurological conditions, such as Huntington’s disease. There was a total of 19 patients at the hospital.
This was our first assessment of the service, which was not previously rated. We assessed the service group (ASG) ‘’services for people with acquired brain injury" and included all the Quality Statements across all 5 Key Questions.
We reviewed 5 client care and treatment records. We carried out a tour of the environment. We spoke to thirteen members of staff including the registered manager.
The service was registered on 12 August 2024; this is the first assessment of the service.
