WR Care Services is a home care service provider, providing care to people in their own homes. There were 38 people using the service at the time of our inspection. We carried out a comprehensive inspection for the service. This is their first inspection since they were registered with the Care Quality Commission.

We spoke with the registered manager and management team on site. We reviewed a range of records relating to people's care and the way the service was managed. We spoke with staff working for the service following our visit.

The provider protected people from the risk of abuse or harm and carried out investigations into safety events or where people raised negative feedback. People, their relatives, and relevant professionals were involved in assessments and consequent reviews of care. Management and provision of staffing was safely led. There were risk assessments and care plans. However, these were not always effective or with specific details, guidance, or strategies for staff to manage risks.

The service was responsive to people’s needs, worked well with people to encourage independence, and was effective in supporting people to access different healthcare services as needed.

The service did not always document consent to care and related decisions appropriately, they did not always document plans for people’s future.

Regular audits were carried out in various areas of the service, however these did not always contain lots of detail, lessons learned, or how these were embedded to sustain continuous improvement.

The provider was very responsive to feedback provided after the inspection period ended and had put in place an action plan to cover areas where they could improve.
