All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced, on-site inspection with remote support from a specialist advisor on 11 February 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice had some systems to identify risks related to fire safety. However, risks identified were not always managed effectively.

Recruitment policies reflected current legislation, however, the policies were not always adhered to.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

South Ealing Dental Practice is in the London Borough of Ealing and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 33 staff, of which there were 11 dentists, 1 sedationist, 9 dental nurses, 1 dental therapist, 2 dental hygienists, 4 receptionists, 2 administrators and 3 practice managers. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses and the practice manager.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good governance. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

18 April 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

On this occasion we did not talk to people who use the service. This inspection was to check whether South Ealing Dental Practice had taken action in relation to compliance actions we imposed following our inspection on the 10 January 2013. At this time we identified that people were put at risk where the practice had not carried out relevant recruitment checks on staff prior to their being employed. We also identified areas where the control of infection was not being managed to ensure that risks to people were minimised.

At our inspection of the 18 April 2013 we found that the provider had taken action to ensure that these compliance actions were met and that people who use the service were not at risk.

10 January 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with six people who use the service. People told us that they were able to get an appointment when they wanted one, and if they needed to be seen in an emergency they were able to be seen on the day. Some comments we received from people were "the staff are very friendly', 'I get the right treatment for my teeth' and 'the dentist always explains to me what is going to happen and the costs of this'. We saw information available about the fee structures for NHS or private treatment offered by the practice.

People said that if they had a complaint they would raise this directly with the service, and we saw information in the reception area about how people could do this. We observe appropriate systems for the logging and recording of any complaints received about the service.

However, we found that people were being put at risk where the practice had not carried out relevant recruitment checks on staff prior to their being employed. We also identified some areas where the control of infection was not being managed to ensure that risks to people wrere minimised.
