All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced off-site inspection on 19 February 2026.

Where we carry out an off-site assessment, we undertake a detailed review of the practice risk assessments, policies, staff records and other relevant documents. We gather feedback from patients, staff and stakeholders (where relevant). We carry out a remote visual assessment of the premises and have discussions with staff.

We found the practice had met regulations.

On the whole, the practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Alpha Dental Studio Fairfield is part of Riverdale Tradeco, a dental group provider. The practice is in Stockton-on-Tees in Cleveland and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice operated from two separate buildings, linked by a covered walkway. Step-free access was available across both buildings. In building 1, which was single-storey and predominantly provides NHS services, access from the car park was via a small ramp. A disabled toilet was located near the entrance. In building 2, which was mainly used for private services and arranged over two floors, the main entrance was flat with no ramp required. A disabled toilet was available on the ground floor. Car parking was available at the rear of the premises. The practice had made reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of patients with mobility or additional access requirements.

The practice had 9 treatment rooms across both buildings. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 36 staff. We gathered feedback from the team and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 1 dental therapist, the practice support manager and the practice manager. In addition, the group’s central operations manager, compliance manager and one of their compliance officers were also at the inspection supporting the practice.

The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.
